The Taylor Auxiliary Police (TAPD) is a group of dedicated men and women volunteers. It was created in 1962 as a volunteer Civil Defense Organization to assist the Taylor Police Department. We currently have approximately 35 Officers; these Officers provide approximately 19,000 hours of community service to the city and its residents. The services provided include road patrols that complete Business, Parks, Schools and Vacation House checks. The unit also provides security for high school sports, City and Church festivals / functions and stands ready to report for duty in cases of emergency.

The Auxiliary Police Unit is charged with providing a ready standby force to assist the Uniform Division, or other Division as may be directed, in time of emergency, including such duties as may be necessary and determined by the Chief of Police or his designee and under authority of a Disaster Decree.
